<p>The invention relates to a suction device comprising a suction pipe (44) by which means fluid is sucked into the reactor pressure vessel (46), preferably out of a condensation chamber (42) of a boiling water reactor plant, for cooling purposes. A filtering device (1) is arranged at the end of the suction pipe (44). This filtering device has an extended strainer basket (2) which extends into the suction pipe (44). When the fluid (f) flows in, swirls are formed due to the extended cross section area (9). These swirls prevent the side walls (12) of the strainer basket (2) becoming clogged with the particles (p) carried in the fluid (f). The particles collect on the strainer floor (10) of the strainer basket (2), said strainer floor being capable of accommodating a large quantity of particles (p), without there being any substantial change in the flow resistance.</p> |
