The refuse transport device has a feed shaft (15) leading to a transport channel (14) along which the refuse is transported in the longitudinal direction via a helical feed screw (4). A cutting device (36) is provided between the transport channel and the feed screw and is provided with a ring (38) having a variable internal diameter, provided by a number of segments adjusted radially via a setting drive (44,46).
