Artificial respiration machine

The respiration machine supports natural respiration and provides artificial respiration with simultaneous detection of the mechanical heart action by measuring impedance variations in the region of the neck, the breast and/or the upper abdomen. Current electrodes (1,4) and measuring electrodes (2,3) are attached to the patient for providing at least one impedance cardiogram, with the impedance curve characteristics used by a processor (B) for controlling the inhalation and exhalation phases of the respiration cycle.
