Floating cover for swimming pool

A storage chamber (6) is provided under the water surface of a swimming pool (2) to accommodate a floating cover (12,12a) which is rolled on to a shaft (10,10a) and can be unrolled to pass through a closable opening (14) with a hatch (16). The hatch can be opened and closed by a replacing device (18) and has a deflection surface (26,28) on its underside to deflect the cover from its vertical position, when it emerges, into a horizontal position. The deflection surface is preferably inclined at 45 degrees and it is provided with guide rails. The cover is replaced by an arrangement of a cable (42) with tension spring (46).
