A virtual investment advisor (312) and investment support system with interactive user interface controls that indicate confidence levels (02) associated with investments, assist in educating and profiling a user and that allow a user to effectuate investments decisions. A virtual investment advisor is constructed for each user profile. The virtual investment advisor (130) selects investments for a portfolio for that user and simulates performance based on actual past performance data (155). The likelihood that a recommended portfolio will meet the user's investment goals is displayed by an interactive confidence indicator (02). If the user approves the results and his or her profile (170), the selections are transmitted as orders to a brokerage firm or similar agent (320) by the investment support system. Confirmations from the execution of the orders are sent to the investment support system along with periodic results reports. The investment support system presents reports to the user as specified by the user. |
