Device to activate braking of car engine with auto gearbox

A device to activate the braking functions of an engine and auto gearbox in a car is characterised by the following combination. The device has a foot-operated switch (2) which is built into the foot-well (1) of a car. The switch is a two-stage one. The first stage is connected to the input of an engine-braking valve (13) through an electrical circuit testing the reliability of the braking function of the engine. The valve is connected to a positioning cylinder to operate the brake flaps (15). the second stage of the switch is arranged to be spatially displaced from the first stage and is connected through a control arrangement for the return shift conditions of the gearbox to its valves.
