The invention seeks to create an elevating work platform in which the load transmission from driving motor (19) to toothed rack (12, 13) is as constant as possible. To this end, the gearing (31) has an axis (35) fitted with at least one pinion (37) which meshes with a toothed wheel (40, 41). The pinion (37) and the toothed wheel (40, 41) have a spiral gearing.
