PURPOSE:To prevent a speed change shock by outputting a shift down signal with delay after outputting a lock up release signal if engine load is smaller than a designated value when a shift down signal is generated in the lock up state. CONSTITUTION:The above control device is adapted to intermittently operate a lock up mechanism A provided on a torque converter, and operate a geared speed change mechanism C to change speed by controlling speed change electromagnetic means D. In this case, when a shift down signal Cp' is output from speed change control means E in the lock up state, according to an output of engine load detection means G, if engine load is larger than a designated value, a lock up release signal Cq' is output in synchronization with the signal Cp, and if it is smaller than the designated value, the signal Cp' is output with delay after outputting the signal Cq' by output timing adjust means F. |
