Electrical coil for a surface mounted device

A coil (10) comprises a winding body (12) with connectors (22) whose first end sections (24) form a common switching plane (26) and whose second end sections (30) connect with the wire of the coil. The winding body (12) is made of a non-metallisable plastic (38) and the connectors (22) of a metallisable second plastic (34), both being moulded together in a two component injection process to form the coil body (10). A chemically applied metal layer (36) covers the free surface of each connector (22) between the first and second end sections (24,30).
