Door closing and securing mechanism for sealing industrial plant doors

The mechanism has a release mechanism (41) which is mechanically linked to an actuator (11). When the release mechanism is in the released position it engages the actuator and keeps it and the door in the open i.e. unclamped position. When the release mechanism is operated in the closed position it releases the actuator allowing it to move into the unclamped i.e. open position. The actuator can be a pivoting cylinder (17) containing a mechanical spring (21) acting on a piston (11) to move it between clamped and unclamped positions.
