The invention concerns an opto-electric receptacle (1) for prewiring buildings, comprising a support plate (10) provided with support means (14) for housing a weak current electric connection (15) and support means for an optical connection (12) for receiving at least an optical fibre (17) connecting piece (18). Said modular receptacle can be used either as electric or optical connection, or further as a complex opto-electric connection. Moreover, it also has on its rear surface an opto-electronic adapter (13) provided with optical connection means (31) which can be plugged in the optical receptacle and electrical connecting means (32) which can be plugged in the electrical receptacle, and on its front surface several electric receptacles (34), the adapter including an opto-electric transducer (35) to transform the optical signals derived from the optical connection means (31) into electric signals.
