Rheology measuring apparatus for an extruder or injection moulding machine and data measuring method

Rheological data determining apparatus for connecting to an extruder or injection moulding machine has a flow channel (8) leading to an outlet nozzle (4) at the free end and a heating and cooling circuit (11,16) whose fluid temperature is governed by a control system. The flow channel (8) diameter is constant from the inlet to the outlet nozzle (4). In a process for measuring rheological data of curable materials, especially thermosetting plastics, the material fills the flow channel (8) and pressure loss is measured by sensors (9). The flow channel temperature is maintained at a precise level by temperature sensors (7,10) controlling the heating and cooling circuit (11,16).
