A rotatable cutting bit-chuck assembly wherein the cutting bit has an axially forward end and an axially rearward end with at least one cutting insert at the axially forward end. The cutting bit contains a cavity defined by a cavity wall. The chuck has an axially forward end and an axially rearward end. Upon assembling the cutting bit on the chuck, the cavity of the cutting bit receives the axially forward end of the chuck wherein there is a variable resistance retention member between the chuck and the cavity wall. |
