Anisotropic moulded part comprises a reinforced component of polymer of E-modulus 1000-5000 N/mm<2> which is embedded in an elastomer matrix of E-modulus 200-600 N/mm<2>. Also claimed is the manufacture of the above moulded part. Preferably the E-modulus of the polymer is 1400-3000 N/mm<2> and that of the matrix is 300-500 N/mm<2>. The reinforcing component has a ratio of length to breadth of 3:1 - 30:1. The matrix is of vulcanised butadiene-styrene, styrene-butadiene rubber, synthetic isoprene rubber, isoprene-isoprene rubber, isobutene-isoprene rubber or mixtures of two or more of these optionally with natural rubber, or it is ethylene-propylene (diene) rubber or nitrile-butadiene rubber. The matrix includes reinforcing fibres in the form of fibres, rovings, unidirectional strips, fleeces or webbing.
