The places for cars to be fuelled have a nominated region which is designed as a platform that from the beginning of the fuelling until payment, is raised so far above the ground, or lowered so far below the ground, that driving the car off the platform is prevented. At least one measuring device and a signal device coupled to it are provided in order to establish the car position before the raising/lowering of the platform and, as required, to signal a necessary change of the raising/lowering process. Devices are provided to release the fuel flow only when the platform is raised or lowered relative to the ground level and other devices are provided which move the platform into the output position when the payment has been completed.
