A diesel-electric main power unit can be used, while the individual cylinders are driven by electric motors. The vertical axis of the main rotor can be tilted for between 5 and 20 deg. forwards, rearwards and sideways. The flettner tubes can be turned individually in the same direction as the rotor at the top and in the opposite direction at the bottom, so as to function overall in the same direction and utilise the Magnus effect to the maximum degree.
