The handsfree unit includes an universal usable base apparatus (11) to which an adapter (13) can be connected. The base apparatus includes the function components for the handsfree unit and the adapter includes adaption elements for the direct electrical adaption of a predetermined mobile telephone model to the base apparatus. A connector (15) is also included in the adapter matching the mobile telephone model. Preferably, the adapter has electrical or electronic components such as resistors (19) or bridges as adaption elements for the adaption of voltage levels and the connections of the mobile telephone to the base apparatus.
