<p>A liquid crystal display device which enables realization of a broad visual field angle equivalent to that of a cathode ray tube and has high luminance, high picture quality, low power consumption and a narrow picture-frame. In an active-matrix liquid crystal display device, a counter-electrode and a pixel electrode are linearly formed so as not to flatly overlap each other, thus enabling generation of an electric field parallel to the substrate surface, and an insulating film having a dielectric constant not greater than 4 is formed on an image signal line, thus forming the counter-electrode on the insulating film to cover the image signal line.</p> |
