Preparation of carbonated drinking water comprises drawing water from household tap water supply, chilling the water during transit to the carbonating station, carbonating, increasing the water pressure to increase the solubility of carbon dioxide and discharging from a tap with a pressure sensor linked to the water pressurisation unit. Also claimed is an apparatus for household use for performing the above process.
