The method includes transmitting message packets between virtual connections where characteristic parameters are determined for the virtual connections according to the traffic levels. A time interval is indicated for each message packet according to the characteristic parameters. The time interval for one message packet is determined only with the transmission of the previous message packet along the take-off line (A1,...,An). The characteristic parameters for the virtual connections are a peak bit rate (PCR), the upper limit of the average bit rate (SCR), burst tolerance (BT) and a cell shifting tolerance (CDV). The end point of the time interval is also indicated.
