Brake monitoring for a lift

The device is used to evaluate and communicate the function of the brakes and their degree of wear for the elevator drive. The device has a switch housing (32, 34) which contains a light barrier (52) and switch rod (36) operated by the brake shoes. The rod has a first flank which monitors the ventilation and closing of the shoes and a second flank monitoring the permitted degree of wear, the flanks being formed on each side of a recess or a projection on the rod. One end of the rod protruding from the housing abuts a brake shoe. The rod is pre-tensioned in the outward direction against the shoe.
