This invention relates to heavier-than-air aircraft with a rotor of the double co-axial, counter rotating type having two propellers, and to its application to a helicopter-airplane to combine the desirable characteristics of heavier-than-air aircraft. When in helicopter flight, the airplane is centre of gravity piloted. The rotor is driven by two engines which are oppositely placed with the co-axial propeller shaft between them. The propeller shaft is arranged pivotally by a gear arrangement and is movable between a vertical position and a horizontal position by a hydraulic cylinder. When moving the propeller shaft the wing is moved at the same time by a gear. The whole engine-rotor arrangement is pivotally suspended and leanable with the aid of hydraulic cylinders. The airplane also comprises a horizontal stabiliser and a fin. |
