Cyclic phenol sulfide and process for producing the same

A cyclic phenol sulfide represented by the following formula (1) is described: <IMAGE> (1) wherein X represents a hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbon group, or an acyl group; Y1 represents a hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbon group, a halogenated hydrocarbon group, -COR1, -OR2, -COOR3, -CN, -CONH2, -NO2, -NR4R5, a halogen atom, -SO4R6, or -SO3R7, in which R11, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, and R7 each represents a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group; n is an integer of 3 or more; and m is an integer of 1 to 7, provided that the plural m's of the Sm's are the same or different; the plural X's are the same or different; and the plural Y1's are the same or different. A process for producing the cyclic phenol sulfide is also described.
