HYDROGENATED BISPHENOL A-DIVINYL ETHER AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound suitable as a reactive diluent of a UV- curable cationic coating material and useful also as a main agent for a curable composition. SOLUTION: This compound is expressed by formula I. It can be produced by divinylating a hydrogenated bisphenol A of formula II with acetylene in the presence of an alkaline catalyst using dimethyl sulfoxide as a solvent. The compound has low odor, causes little discoloration and gives a cured material having excellent physical properties.
