PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify an antiviral agent effective against HSV infection by bringing UL 15 of herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1) into contact with test compounds and examining the inhibition of the mutual action between VP5 and UL15. SOLUTION: The UL15 of HSV 1 or its functional derivative or its homologue is obtained and brought into contact with test compounds to obtain VP5 or its functional derivative or its homologue. Then, the inhibition to the mutual action between the UL15 or its functional derivative or its homologue and the VP5, its functional derivative or its homologue is screened to identify antiviral agent that is useful for treatment of the Herpes virus infection. By this inhibition screening, the tested compound is shown to have antiviral action on the members in the herpes virus group and identified as an antiviral agent. |
