Difluoronucleoside phosphonic acids and derivatives thereof of formula (II) where R is base selected from the group consisting of: (i), (ii), (iii), (iv), and (v) wherein R<1> is hydrogen, methyl, bromo, fluoro, chloro or iodo; R<2> is hydroxy or -NR<4>R<5>, where R<4> and R<5> are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, methyl, ethyl and propyl; R<3> is hydrogen, bromo, chloro or iodo; both R<6> are the same, and are either -OR<7> or -(O<->R<8>), where R<7> is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, and isopropyl; R<8> is a pharmaceutically acceptable cation; and pharmaceutically acceptable salts and solvates thereof; are described and claimed as antiviral and antineoplastic agents. |
