PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an image to be used for preliminarily setting and/or rough adjustment of an instrument, by equipping a lens insertable at least one of light passes of an eyeball and a reading device and forming an image of a front face part section of the eyeball on the reading device as well as on an optical system. SOLUTION: To quickly and securely achieve a prerequisite for starting measurement by rough adjustment or preliminarily adjustment, a lens movable in an R direction in a light passage of a partial light 10 cooperates with an optical system 13 to make an image of the front part section of an eyeball on an imaging side focus plane of the optical system 13. This image information is converted to graphic information signals by the function of a CCD camera placed and then outputted via a connected monitor to enable to be immediately viewable on the monitor if only the cornea is set almost at the focus distance. When the setting position is found, the lens 16 is taken out of the light passage of the partial light 10 to enable to perform distance measurement between individual optical interface membrane.
