PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely form a welding margin provided at an inner tube and uniformly decrease diameter of an outer tube to compress buffer member uniformly in its whole peripheral, in a muffler which consists of the inner tube and the outer tube whose diameter of both ends is decreased. SOLUTION: In a held outer tube 1, an inner tube 2 in which a buffer member 8 is engaged at its one end 2a is held a given distance away from the outer tube 1. Next, diameter of the other end 1b of the outer tube 1 which is on the opposite side of the buffer member 8 is decreased, and the end 1b is fixed to the other end 1b of the inner tube 2. Finally, one end 1a of the outer tube 1 is worked with spinning, the end 2a is contacted with the buffer member 8, and diameter of the end 1a is decreased so that the buffer member 8 is compressed radially. |
