PRODUCTION OF NITROGEN-CONTAINING HETEROCYCLIC QUATERNARY AMMONIUM ORGANIC ACID SALT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel production process that enables efficient production and gives a quaternary ammonium organic acid salt of high product purity. SOLUTION: This production process comprises the following two steps: (a) the first step that a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic tertiary amine is allowed to react with a carbonic diester to produce the corresponding quaternary ammonium carbonate and (b) the resultant ammonium carbonate is mixed with an organic acid to remove the liberating carbon dioxide to exchange the anion from carbonate to the corresponding organic acid ion.
