PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording ink which can dispense with a head protector, has excellent characteristics of recording on plain paper and has stable delivery characteristics. SOLUTION: This ink is prepared by mixing a water-soluble dye with a main solvent for the dye, comprising 9-30 wt.% purified water and 48-80 wt.% dimethyl sulfoxide being a high-boiling very highly hygroscopic water-soluble solvent and 4.5-16 wt.% 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone being a high-boiling water-soluble organic solvent having the action of stabilizing the dissolution of the dye and the action of imparting penetrability into plain paper and diethylene glycol being a high-boiling water-soluble organic solvent as a modifier for the surface tension and viscosity of ink. The synergistic action among the dimethyl sulfoxide and the 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone and the diethylene glycol and realize an ink jet recording ink which can dispense with a head protector. |
