PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a density irregularity like streaks to be generated in the case of interlace photographic printing and improve image quality, by carrying out a plurality of number of main scans and recording images with a smaller recording dot pitch than a distance of recording nozzles of a recording head. SOLUTION: When a count of recording nozzles of a recording head is 10, i.e., n1-n10, constants (m) and (k) are both 3, and a distance of the recording nozzles is D, a movement amount in a sub scan direction is set to be (m+1/k)×D. At a first main scan, recording nozzles n7-n10 are used thereby carrying out photographic printing, and the recording head and a paper are moved relatively by (m+1/k)×D, that is, the paper is moved by (m+1/k)×D in the sub scan direction. Thereafter, at a second main scan, recording nozzles n4-n10 are used for the photographic printing, and the paper is moved in the sub scan direction by (m+1/k)×D. At a third main scan, all recording nozzles n1-n10 are used to carry out the photographic printing.
