PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high efficiency filter paper for an oil filter which is made up of a fine, highly moisture-absorptive and outstanding in-water dispersion-type inorganic fiber with a surface coating, mixed into a pulp fiber to be formed into a paper layer, and has a uniform pore distribution and a long life. SOLUTION: A constituent pule fiber 2 of a paper layer 1 contains 20-60% of fine inorganic fiber 3 with a surface coating. This fine inorganic fiber 3 with a surface coating has a surface coating composed of at least, one type of ultramicroparticle selected from the ultramicro particles of a metal oxide such as titanium dioxide and a metal hydroxide, with a size ofμm unit or less.
