PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a material excellent in arc resistance, lubricity and wear resistance, having stable low value of contact resistance, excellent in corrosion resistance in sulfide-containing atmosphere or the like and suitable for a sliding contact in a small-current region by specifying the compsn. of a low oxygen- silver-lithium alloy contg. rare earth elements. SOLUTION: The compsn. of an alloy is composed of, by weight, 0.01 to 2.0% lithium, 0.01 to 5.0% rare earth elements, <=5.0×10<-3> % oxygen, and the balance silver with inevitable impurities. Preferably, this compsn. is incorporated, as selective elements (A), with at least one kind among indium, tin, zinc, manganese, palladium, antimony, copper, magnesium, lead cadmium, chromium and bismuth by 0.1 to 1.0% and/or, as selective elements (B), with at least one kind among iron, nickel and cobalt by 0.03 to 0.6% in total. Moreover, the result of an Fretting test for this alloy shows 5 to 12 mΩand 0.16 to 0.46νK coefficient of kinetic friction in the case of 1.0 A energizing current.
