摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a denitrification speed while stabilizing dienitrification by using a conductive corrosion resistant metal electrode as an anode and using a bacteria fixed electrode as a cathode. SOLUTION: An anode 2 and a cathode 3 are mounted on both side surfaces of a reactor 1 and the interior of the reactor is partitioned into an anode chamber 5 and a cathode chamber 6 longitudinally by a diaphragm 4. An inlet 7 of water to be treated is formed on the left end surface of the anode chamber 5 of the reactor 1 and a treated water outlet 8 is formed on the left end surface of the cathode chamber 6 and an outlet 9 is formed on the sidewall in the vicinity of the right end of the anode chamber 5 and an inlet 10 is formed on the sidewall in the vicinity of the right end of the cathode chamber 6 and both of the outlet and the inlet are connected by a connection pipe. The cathode chamber 6 of the reactor 6 is filled with a granular carrier 16 holding denitrifying bacteria and water to be treated is allowed to pass in the direction shown by an arrow to achieve denitrification. At this time, the electrode used as the anode 2 is set to a metal electrode and a platinum electrode, a noble metal electrode or one wherein platinum is applied to copper, zinc or nickel is utilized. A bacteria fixed electrode is arranged as the cathode 3. By this constitution, a denitrification speed by denitrifying bacteria on the side of the cathode 3 is increased.
