PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring method that can exactly measure physiological activities such as sensitivity to a medicine in a short time, and also provide the apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: Both of a culture medium to which a physiologically active substance to be measured and a culture medium containing the physiological substance to be measured and a reagent for measuring the physiological activity are prepared to determine the dissolved oxygen in both media by means of the oxygen electrode and compare the amounts of dissolved oxygen found thereby measuring the physiological activity. At this time, the physiological activity is determined based on the change rate of the dissolved oxygen within the time range from after first prescribed time course to the second prescribed time course after a bias voltage is applied to the oxygen electrode for measurement.
