PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a urea-containing component useful as an agent for treating hair by forming a clathrate compound of urea used as a moisture retaining agent for the skin using a specific compound. SOLUTION: This urea-containing component is obtained by forming a clathrate compound of urea using a fatty acid and/or a fatty acid compound. For example, when a fatty acid ethyl ester is used, a mixture of the ester and urea is boiled to reflux in a non-oxidative atmosphere, especially in nitrogen atmosphere together with urea dissolved in ethanol until the urea in the mixture is dissolved, the mixture is cooled, finally to not higher than 10 deg.C, and formed precipitates are collected by filtration. It is preferable that a polyunsaturated fatty acid is partially used as the fatty acid. Especially,ω-3-fatty acid is preferable. Since theω-3-fatty acid can prevent inflammation, the obtained agent is suitable as a medical ointment.
