发明名称 Vorrichtung zum Einspeichern einer Dezimalzahl in ein Register
摘要 <p>1,069,128. Electronic calculator apparatus. WYLE LABORATORIES. May 17, 1965 [June 12, 1964], No. 20845/65. Heading G4A. Decimal point alignment apparatus comprises a memory store having at least one register including a number of stages, one of which is identified by decimal point identifying means, means for storing a number in the memory, the most significant digit of the number being stored in an arbitrarily chosen stage and the rest of the digits being stored in adjacent stages, apparatus for initiating an align operation and apparatus for shifting the stored digits until the least significant digit in the whole portion of the number is stored in the stage identified by the decimal point identifying means. In operation in a computer of the kind described in Specification 1,031,235 a number is manually entered into the store with the most significant digit or initial digit entered into the most significant digit sector, the next significant digit into the next sector and so on until the number to the left of the decimal point is centred. An align key 62 is then pressed, causing the number to be shifted until the number is aligned with the predetermined decimal point position. During the edit operation flip-flop L0 is set by the Od pulse provided once each memory cycle and acts with bit pulse P1 and a pulse K<SP>1</SP>DC which is a coincidence pulse KDC delayed by one digit period. KDC is produced by a comparison circuit between a digit counter 18 (Fig. 1, not shown) and a control counter 56 and signifies which digit position is being examined. If the digit examined is one or more positions to the left of the decimal point AND gate 82 sets flip-flop L1 which in turn sets L2 during resetting pulse Od at the end of each memory cycle and causes a shift right pulse to be applied to shift right means 38 (Fig. 1, not shown). During the subsequent cycle L1 is reset when the K<SP>1</SP>DC pulse coincides with the decimal point indicating pulse Kp thus resetting at the end of the cycle, creating a terminating pulse and stopping the shift right means. The input and output amplifiers and heads for a magnetic disc memory are positioned one digit space apart (Fig. 2, not shown) and the digits are shifted right by connecting the output amplifiers directly to the input amplifiers (Fig. 4, not shown). An overflow gate 100 indicates when the number inserted has too many digits for them all to be situated to the left of the decimal point.</p>
