WATER-SOLUBLE EXTRACT CONTAINING ASIATICOSIDE AND MADECASSOSIDE SEPARATED FROM CENTELLA ASIATICA AND ITS SEPARATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-soluble extract of asiaticoside and madecassoside excellent in liver cell-protecting effect and anti-fibrosing effect from Centella asiatica and provide a method for separating the extract. SOLUTION: An ethanol aqueous solution is added to a sample and methylene chloride is added to the resultant extract to carry out layer separation and the supernatant is extracted with normal butanol and the normal butanol layer is washed with caustic soda and washed with water. The butanol layer is concentrated under reduced pressure and ethyl acetate is added to the concentrated layer to carry out crystallization and the resultant crystals are separated and washed and dried to separate an extract containing a mixture of asiaticoside and madecassoside.
