<p>The machine discharges plastics bags from a reel as a strip. The bags are then run between a set of rollers (10,11) with matching meeting heated projections. The projections are separated by depressions (12,13) which accommodate the product (31) and plastic packing (32). Adjacent bags are heat-sealed as they pass between rollers (10,11), in contact (14-17) over a given length. The roller contact surfaces are convex, providing a bag inlet zone (18) in which two parallel bag panels are not physically held together while the immediately adjacent heat sealing process is effected. The radius (r) of the sealing surfaces (14-17) is smaller than that of the overall radius of the rollers.</p> |
