In a battery-cover lock mechanism of a portable terminal such as an electronic pocketbook, an operating-battery or first cover 2 and a backup-battery or second cover 3 are locked by a lock lever 6 fixed to a lock button 4 to be selectively manipulated by the user. A first engaging portion of the first cover, a lower housing 5 and a first locking portion of the lock lever have a first claw 9, a second claw 13 and a first tongue 7, respectively. When the first and second claws are interengaged so as to the first claw is sandwiched between the second claw and the first tongue, the first cover is locked. And a second engaging portion of the second cover has a shelf 18 and a second locking portion of the lock lever has a second tongue 8; when the second tongue enters the shelf, the second cover is locked. The lock button follows an L-shaped track as it travels between the three locking positions. |
