The clamp (1) has two main components consisting of a base bracket (2) into which the cable is laid and a clamp connection piece (3) to which the tap off cable is attached. When assembled, the clamp piece (3) is dove-tailed onto the base bracket (2). A large pressure screw (7) in the upper piece forces the supply cable (14) down into the bracket, where V-shaped blades cut through the outer insulation and make contact with the conductive core. The tap off cable or cables (10) are clamped into the connection piece (3) by grub screws (9). Additional grub screws can be used in tapped holes (22) in the base to limit the downward travel of the supply cable.
