Initiator system for anionic (co)polymerisation of (meth)acrylic monomers and optionally ethylenically unsaturated comonomers comprises (1) at least one initiator compound and (2) at least one alkali metal aminoalcoholate of formula (I) as ligand: (R<1>)(R<2>)N-Ä-R<3>-N(R<4>)-R<5>-Üm-O-M (I) in which R<1>, R<2> and R<4> each independently = linear or branched alkyl with 1-8 C, arylalkyl or alkylaryl group in which the alkyl group contains 1-6 C, or aryl radical; R<3> and R<5> each independently = linear or branched 2-8 C alkylene which may be unsubstituted or substituted by at least one 1-8 C alkyl radical or an aryl radical; an arylalkylene radical; or an arylene radical; M = alkali metal; and m = 0 or a whole number 1-6.
