Digital color press platen assembly

The platen assembly for use with an ink jet printer includes a platen frame associated with a platen for providing a stable printing surface. A print roller is housed within the platen frame for deflecting a continuous web substrate under tension. The roller is cantilevered away from a pivot point. A lifting mechanism raises and lowers the platen frame and the substrate to and away from a print position.
