The heat exchanger manifold (1) has a fixing peg (2) to hold it in place, e.g. in a motor vehicle engine compartment. the peg is made as part of the manifold and has a shear line (3) which allows it to break off along a flat surface (S) under impact. In the event of the peg breaking off, either as a result of a collision or even an impact received on the assembly line, a blind hole (7) is left in the surface of the manifold, allowing it to be fitted with a replacement peg having a self-tapping screw.
