The display cabinet (1) has a small upper compartment (2) and a larger closed compartment (3) below it. Both compartments are illuminated by fluorescent tube units (12,5). Both compartments are also cooled by refrigeration heat exchangers (14,7). Mirrors (13,6) are used to give the impression of space. Products which are perishable or easily damaged are displayed in trays (9) in the lower compartment (2), behind a glass panel (4). The trays are set into a drawer (8). If the shopper wishes to take products out of the lower compartment, he opens the drawer for access. If the drawer is not closed manually, it will retract automatically after a predetermined elapsed time. The front of the cabinet under the drawer and the plinth both have decorative wooden panels.
