<p>The non-ferrous cylinder (3) has a dovetailed groove (9) running along the outer length of the cylinder to take non-contact sensors (8) which monitor the position of the piston. The piston is fitted with at least one permanent magnet whose position is detected by the sensor. The sensor is secured into the groove by a retaining spring (17) which clamps against the inside edge of the groove. The spring is fitted to the sensor body by a screw (12). The screw is threaded into a nut (19) with a sloping flange (20) which engages the end of the spring and forces it to grip under the dovetail profile of the edge of the groove. This three-component fitting can cover a range of spacings between the sensor body and the edge of the groove.</p> |
