<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve a problem of gas barrier property caused when a plastic film is used for a substrate of a liquid crystal device and to realize a thin liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: This substrate is used to hold the liquid crystal cell of a liquid crystal display device and the substrate is obtd. by successively forming a thin film having gas barrier property and the thin film of a transparent conductive material on one surface of a plastic film base body. The thin film having gas barrier property is formed by applying a gas-barrier compsn. containing an org. metal compd. and/or its hydrolyzed condensate expressed by R<1> m M(OR<2> )n as the essential component on the base body. In the formula, M is a metal element, plurality of R<1> may be different and represent hydrogen atoms, lower alkyl groups, aryl groups, vinyl groups, mercapt groups directly bonded to a carbon chain, or (meth)acryloyl groups, plurality of R<2> may be different and represents hydrogen atoms, lower alkyl groups or acryl groups, (m) is 0 or a positive integer, (n) is an integer >=1, and m+n is equal to the valence of the metal element M.</p> |
