PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording apparatus and using method therefor wherewith occurrence of bubbles in a recording head can be restrained on executing suction operation with an ink cartridge mounted. SOLUTION: When a carriage is put (S2: Yes) in a waiting position with a purge button operated (S1: Yes), the carriage is moved (S4) to a position for replacing a cartridge. When the purge button is operated again (S1: Yes) with the cartridge removed, the nozzle face is moved (S5) to a position opposite to a suction cap. Then, suction operation (blank purging) is made with a suction pump operated at the puring position. Thereby, the carriage is moved, after ink filled in a recording head is removed from the jetting side, to the position for replacing the cartridge. After a new cartridge is mounted, suction operation is executed again at the purging position. |
