PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which is easy-to- manufacture, generates no disclination causing optical leakage, and is an excellent in a viewing angle characteristic and also a ratio. SOLUTION: In a liquid crystal display device wherein a liquid crystal layer is held between two substrates 23, 33 and two or more kinds of small areas co-exist in this liquid crystal layer, the liquid crystal moleculars 11 in the small areas are arranged so as to rise from a center of each picture element. Namely, a split-structured liquid crystal display device wherein the liquid crystal moleculars 11 rise from the center of each picture element can be achieved by keeping a 2nd electrode 25 provided at an opening part 24 at about same potential as a counter electrode, and keeping a peripheral electrode 27 at a potential higher than the counter electrode. Thus, a liquid crystal display device is achievable, which is easy-to-manufacture and has also a wide view angle and an excellent contrast ratio. Moreover, a rising direction of the liquid crystal moleculars 11 is fixed by dispersing high polymer organic compounds in the liquid crystal. |
