PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the power of irradiation light required for crystallization smaller by incorporating the metallic elements among the metallic elements constituting oxides with Zn of the elements to be incorporated into this protective layer at such a ratio as to have atomic% of a specific range of the entire amt. of these elements. SOLUTION: This medium has a transparent base material which allows the transmission of irradiation light, a recording layer which consists essentially of a chalcogen based alloy and the protective layer which is formed above and below the recording layer across this layer. The protective layer has at least one kind of ZnS and ZnSe and at least one kind of the oxides among SiO2 , GeO2 , SnO2 , TeO2 , ZrO2 , Al2 O3 , and Ta2 O5 . If the entire amt. of the metallic elements constituting these oxides with the Zn is defined as 100 atm.% the content of these metallic elements is so determined as to attain 35 to 65 atom.%. The degradation in the thermal diffusion efficiency of the protective layer is resulted with the optical information recording medium constituted in such a manner and, therefore, the smaller power of the irradiation light necessary for noncrystallization is necessitated and the smaller energy for emission of the irradiation light is necessitated. |
